Wow! I cant believe it has been over a month since Jonathon arrived... Or I've updated this blog. Having 4 kids sure keeps you busy. Here is what we have been up to in January and all of February:)
Jonathon had jaundice and was on a portable bili light pad for a week. Which meant doctor visits, home nurses, and lots of heel pricks for our little man. He was a trooper though and his levels regulated over the rest of the month. When Jonathon was born, he weighed 8lbs.1oz. and his weight dropped down to 7lbs.2oz.s. Which was o.k. at first, but then he wasn't gaining it back fast enough. So we had weekly weight checks at the doctors and supplementing with formula. Finally after a month he finally regained birth weight and is thriving. He is still a skinny baby and has long legs. I wonder if he'll be my tall son.?:) He still has a full head of black hair, and his eyes look like they'll be blue. Everyone says he looks like Cameron. He is a joy and only gets up once in the middle of the night to eat. His brothers love him so much. Even Travis, who first thing in the morning, runs into our room to look in the bassinet to say hi to brother. It is so adorable. I am very blessed to have such a sweet baby.
Travis has a new nickname. My Dad named him hot rod, because he is always going and running to everything. But Scott has a new name that is fitting him more I feel. Mayhem. A couple weeks ago, Scott had a vacation week and spent it at home with us!(I loved every single minute of it:)! And luckily this was the same week I got strep throat, so he took care of all the kids, carpool, babies for a couple of days while I was out of it. I think he has a new found appreciation for what i do and go through at home. So Travis is very smart, he has figured out how to open our kid locks, closet doors, dresser drawers, and can reach the kitchen table in about 4 inches. He gets into everything, movies, empties the bookshelf 2-3 times a day, empties the shelves in our pantry, plays in the garbage, and bathrooms if your not careful, so we have to take many precautions in our house. Regardless, he still finds ways to cause trouble. So scott nicknamed him Mayhem-(like the all state commercials). Just last week he reached a brand new bottle of syrup(unopened & sealed), opened it and dumped the bottle on the kitchen floor in a matter of minutes. He started calling my name because he was swimming in it and couldn't stand up in it. Turkey. This week he figured out how to pull the diaper box across the changing table and then covered himself in Desitin. Ten minutes later, all cleaned up and he's in the pantry and found miniature marshmallows! Which he dumped on the floor as I was chasing after him and feeding Jonathon at the same time. Today, he ripped open a box of macaroni & cheese which there's nothing you can do about that- but sweep it up. And the kicker is he knows he's in trouble, and then he gives you this one in a million smile with his dimples, and you cant be as upset as you need to be. He definitely keeps me on my toes.
Cameron is so sweet. He likes his preschool class with the exception of a new girl who always hits him. Were working on it. He is growing a little and is finally in 4t's. He doesn't want to go to kindergarten though, he told me he wants to stay a kid. I told him he couldn't that you are always growing and getting older and that was how it was supposed to be. And he said but I want to live with you forever. I don't want to leave. How cute is that! We had a great talk after that. He has been giving these really great hugs lately and is a great helper(& teaser to his brothers). He has a very contagious smile and is a great little man.
Spencer is reading really well. He is also doing great with math. We had parent teacher conference this last month and he has improved a ton and his teacher seems to be more vested in him. I was able to spend Valentines day volunteering in both Spencer and Cameron's classes. Spencer's class had a Valentine Tea and invited the mayor of Pullman. I was able to help serve, and Spencer was so proud that the Mayor sat at his desk at tea time. For Cameron's class, I brought Go-gurt yogurt sticks for their snack time treat and helped as they passed out Valentines and made cards and Cam made me root beer scented bath salts. (another bonus of Scott being on vacation that week- me being able to volunteer).
Scott is away finishing up a two week rotation in Caldwell, ID, and he flys out Saturday morning for Texas for another 4 week rotation at an equine ranch. He is quite excited about this rotation and all the foaling experience it will give him. Job wise, we are still searching and applying. He has interviewed at a few places and has another interview tomorrow-:) Fingers crossed XXX. So if you know anyone who is in need of a vet- let us know - were looking!
So with Scott gone, I have been surrounded by a bunch of good friends and neighbors who have been helping me, especially at church. It hasn't been to bad with him gone really, but its only been a week & a half. We miss him like crazy and the boys keep praying for him to travel home safely so they can be with him. So adorable. We love and miss him and hopefully the next 4 weeks will go by quickly to. And we have a job too. :) So thanks to everyone and your thoughtful calls and the dinners and in general your concern- I am truly around great people and will miss you all in a few months...
I have a bunch of pictures I will post later of the last few weeks and you can see some of the mayhem Travis has been into-I decided to just start taking pictures first before cleaning up. I do seem to get upset at first, but then wish I had paused to document it so I could laugh about it later, or use it as payback when he gets married:) So I'm sure there will be many more pics in the future as well.
