When it makes it all worthwhile
So i was reading to the boys the book, Puff the Magic Dragon for bed the other night and it has all the lyrics to the song. So I'll read it, and then go thru and sing it to them. And the boys were really hyper and didn't want to settle down. And in our house, if you cant lay quietly during the bedtime story, then we stop and give you a warning and if they do it again after that, were done. Well, Cam kept getting up and jumping on his bed and blowing bubbles and spitting and laughing. And I gave him his warning and it persisted and Spencer jumped in a little too, so I told them i was done and goodnight, and left. And i was sitting in the living room, feeling bad for leaving their good nights like that, and debating on what i should do, and 5 minutes later, Spencer and Cameron come out of their bedroom and Cameron walks down the hall and looks at me and mumbles something, and I ask him what he's saying and he repeats it again. Still don't understand, and Spencer steps forward and says, "Mom he's trying to apologize. Say your sorry for jumping on the bed Cam," "I'm sorry bed mom." Say your sorry for spitting and blowing bubbles". " Sorry spit bubbles mom." Say sorry for laughing." Sorry laugh mom." And then he ran to me and gave me a humongous hug! And yes, i promptly forgave him and my worries vanished. I was so proud to have children who sensed their ways were wrong and new the solution to the problem. They do hear us when were talking to them, even if it doesn't seem like it. It was so adorable. I gave them both hugs and we were able to redo it all over and it was a great good night! Iam proud of Cam wanting to say sorry, and proud of Spencer helping his brother do the right thing! I love it, and I love them! it's the little things like this that make all the other days worth it.
